On March 16, 2023, Paratransit Day took place at the Transforming Transportation Conference in Washington, D.C. Over fifty participants from diverse backgrounds attended, representing nonprofits, private companies, development organizations, multilateral banks, and public institutions.

The workshop “Reimagining the Techno-Social Infrastructure for Collecting Data on Informal and Shared Mobility in LMICs” was designed and led by the Global Network for Popular Transportation, with the support of the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF).

The workshop aimed to explore ways to fill the information gaps surrounding informal and shared mobility, potentially leading to improved tools, partnerships, research, and technology investments in this area. Participants explored bridging global data gaps on informal and shared mobility and discussed necessary techno-social infrastructure for data collection.
